Swap of 7-acre parcels in Lost Mountain Land Exchange increases access to DNR-managed lands southwest of Sequim

The Washington State Board of Natural Resources approved a land exchange in Clallam County during its meeting Tuesday morning to increase access to state trust lands in Clallam County.

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources and the Gates family are exchanging 7-acre parcels at the end of Lost Mountain Road southwest of Sequim. The exchange provides a direct access point to Lost Mountain Road from state lands, making the area more efficient to manage.

The 7 acres of DNR-managed land was appraised as $48,400 less valuable than the Gates parcel, so the Department will spend money generated from prior transactions to make up the difference.

A public hearing for the transaction was held in Port Angeles on September 21.

Maps, photos, and further information about the exchange are available at dnr.wa.gov/managed-lands/land-transactions/lost-mountain-land-exchange.
