Research and Engage in New Markets
DNR’s management of the state trust lands portfolio should be responsive to the context of today but nimble enough to respond to the challenges, opportunities, and emerging markets of the future. Under this focus area, DNR may identify new and emerging markets that could be a good fit for state trust lands, including markets for carbon storage or other ecosystem services that currently do not generate income. DNR also may identify capital improvements, water rights, and other requirements for participating in these markets. To help inform this work, DNR may conduct comparative studies with other land management organizations.
