Raft Island
Compliance Review of Mooring Buoys, Swim Floats and Boat Lifts at Raft Island, Pierce County.
In the winter of 2018, the Department of Natural Resources identified the inside passage of Raft Island as a high priority for addressing unauthorized uses of state-owned aquatic lands that may result in harm to the environment or property, or impede navigation.
Currently, approximately 75 unauthorized in water structures appear to be located within the inner passage of Raft Island on state-owned aquatic land. DNR plans to conduct a compliance review of the in water structures on August 24, 2018, during the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
If your in water structure is tagged, please contact the Aquatic Resources Division at 360-902-1100 or via email at buoy@dnr.wa.gov. DNR requests that unauthorized in water structure owners either remove their property or complete and submit a Joint Aquatic Resources Permit Application (JARPA) to DNR requesting authorization within 30 days of being tagged. Please contact DNR if your in water structure is tagged and you are unable to remove your property or submit a JARPA within the 30-day period.
DNR will be arranging the removal and disposal of any unauthorized in water structure that does not have a pending JARPA application 90 days after being tagged. We encourage unauthorized in water structure owners to contact DNR as soon as possible to avoid potential compliance actions.
