Washington Geological Survey Geotechnical Document Submission

Welcome to the Washington Geological Survey's (WGS) geotechnical document submission webpage and form. This page allows public entities such as city/county governments, contractors/consultants, and the public to submit geotechnical documents to WGS.

WGS contributes to the safety and economic well-being of Washington’s citizens. As part of this duty, we actively compile and maintain a database of publicly available geotechnical reports as required by RCW 43.92.025(2a-d). Geotechnical reports contain abundant geologic data used in geologic studies by both our staff geologists and many members of the public. As more documents become available this will ultimately provide cost savings to citizens of the State of Washington by allowing for a better understanding of the geotechnical challenges associated with planning and development of Washington’s growing communities.

What documents may I submit?

Documents that would be appropriate for submission would be geotechnical or soil reports of investigations, evaluations, or surveys. These documents must meet the criteria for public disclosure, as all documents submitted will be made publicly available. Documents submitted to and redistributed by the Washington Geological Survey are provided as is, with no warranty or guarantee of the information contained within. An example of such a report can be found here.

How to submit documents

Submission using Box requires a contact name and email for each document(s) submitted; only one document may be submitted at a time, although multiple files can be zipped into a folder and sent as a batch. If you have a large batch of documents or documents in paper format that you would like added to the database, please contact Tricia Sears to make arrangements.

Thank you for participating in this program and helping us to share resources to the people of Washington State.
