Celebrate Urban and Community Forestry

Since October is the best time to plant trees in Washington, Governor Jay Inslee has proclaimed the month as Urban and Community Forestry Month.

Take advantage of the cooler temperatures and moisture, and plant trees to make your community healthier by creating a thriving urban forest. Trees help to reduce energy costs, increase home values, clean the air we breathe and clean the water we drink.

Advice on Tree Care

First, don't plant any tree until you have the right tree in the right place. Second, the Washington State Urban and Community Forestry (UCF) Program can help with technical, educational and financial assistance for Washington’s cities and towns, counties, tribal governments, non-profit organizations and educational institutions.
