18.3-acre parcel north of Pasco lacking water rights sells for $495,000, set to be part of Port’s new Reimann Industrial Center

The Washington State Board of Natural Resources approved the direct transfer of an 18.3-acre parcel in Franklin County to the Port of Pasco at its meeting Tuesday morning in Olympia.

The parcel, sold for $495,000, is set to be part of the Port’s new Reimann Industrial Center north of Pasco. That money will be put toward acquiring replacement property for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources that is better suited to raise revenue to support K-12 school construction statewide.

“DNR’s goal is always to maintain or increase the amount of lands in state ownership to best support communities across Washington, but sometimes DNR-managed properties serve their communities best when they are transferred to local governments who can magnify their economic impact,” said Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz. “Transferring this parcel to the Port of Pasco will support a transformational opportunity for the economy of the Tri-Cities, and I am excited to have a role in that development.”

“This piece of property is of critical importance for Pasco’s industrial development,” said Randy Hayden, Port of Pasco executive director. “The sale is a clear indication that DNR recognizes the importance of investing in local communities and supporting economic growth.”

The parcel is zoned for agricultural use and does not have water rights. It only generated $1,480 per year in revenue for the Common School Trust.
