Back Country Horsemen of Washington Work Party - Harry Osborne State Forest

9:00 A.M. TO 12:30 P.M.

 
Volunteer with the Skagit Chapter of the Back Country Horsemen of Washington (BCHW) to improve rustic equestrian and multi-use trails on DNR land at the Harry Osborne State Forest in Hamilton. Experience in trail work is not necessary to volunteer. All the tools and safety equipment, with the exception of personal work gloves, will be provided by BCHW. Power equipment such as chainsaws and brush cutters require training and experience which can be acquired through work party participation and scheduled trainings. Work party activities could include brushing trail corridor, clearing fallen trees and debris, tread maintenance, along with building and maintaining drainage features.
 
Work party participants first meet at the Les Hilde Trailhead shelter where donuts and coffee are provided before traveling to the work site. Afterwards, volunteers meet back at the trailhead shelter where lunch and refreshments are also provided. Volunteers are welcome to bring lunch potluck dishes if desired. 
 
What to Bring
Volunteers should bring water and lunch, gloves and dress for working in the outdoors. Boots are required.
 
Directions
Volunteers will meet at the Les Hilde Trailhead shelter at 6998 Medford Road in Hamilton, WA. At the trailhead there is ample parking with a vault toilet but no potable water.
