DNR, WSU Team Up for Summer Forest Field Day Events in June

Forest landowners will be able to attend outdoor workshops and learn about a variety of forest issues at events in Cle Elum and Redmond

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Washington State University Extension (WSU) are teaming up to host two Summer Forest Field Day events later this month to educate forest landowners of all types about forest management, wildlife habitat, and other forest stewardship topics critical for maintaining a healthy forest.

The outdoor workshops at both events will be led by experts in a wide variety of forestry-related fields. Presenters will be available to answer questions specific to individual properties, and exhibitors will be there with more information about landowner assistance programs offered by DNR, WSU, local conservation districts, and other organizations.

“The educational field days put on by DNR and WSU are great opportunities to learn not only about the best ways to care for forests, but the many partners and programs available to help landowners maintain healthy, vibrant forests for generations,” said Commissioner of Public Lands Dave Upthegrove.

The first Summer Forest Field Day will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, in Cle Elum. The cost is $30 per person or $40 for a family of two or more people. Rates will increase by $10 after June 18. One lunch is included with each registration; additional lunches may be purchased in advance for $10 each.
