The fifty-mile salt water buffer polygon is that area within the fifty-mile salt water line. This data set was extracted from the Washington State Fish and Wildlife Department's Murrbands coverage, and represents the area within fifty miles of the shoreline of marine waters.
The fifty-mile buffer polygon is used in the definition of "suitable marbled murrelet habitat" described in Washington Administrative Code (WAC) Chapter 222-16-010, "Suitable marbled murrelet habitat". WAC 222-16-080 (j) marbled murrelet critical habitats under the Washington Forest Practices rules.
