Commissioner Franz to Visit ‘Left Hand Fire’ Near Yakima (July 30)

Commissioner of public lands to be in Yakima for wildfire briefing and to meet with firefighters

The “Left Hand Fire” northwest of Yakima has burned more than 2,000 acres since it started on July 23, prompting Level 3 and Level 2 evacuations in the area. This fire is under Department of Natural Resources and U.S. Forest Service jurisdiction.
Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz, who leads the state’s wildfire fighting force, will visit the incident commander on the Left Hand Fire, receive a briefing, meet with firefighters, and visit the helicopter staging area to get a better understanding of the wildfire.
