Eastern Washington field day is June 11, western Washington events scheduled for August

Following a two-year hiatus, the popular Forest and Range Owners Field Day is back and scheduled to take place on June 11 in Chewelah.

The event gives forest landowners — whether they own a few acres or a few hundred — an opportunity to meet consulting foresters, sign up for a site visit to their property, and learn about forest health, harvesting, and more.

From 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. foresters and other partners will give presentations on destructive insects, chainsaw safety, field technology, Native American land management, noxious weeds, soils, and prescribed fire, as well as demonstrations about horse-logging, portable sawmills and safe felling and bucking of trees.

The event is sponsored by the Washington State University Extension, the Washington Department of Natural Resources, and a number of other organizations, including Stevens and Spokane counties, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Washington Farm Forestry Association.

The field day is located at the Casa Becca del Norté Tree Farm at 2716 Moser Road in Chewelah. Gates open at 8 a.m. To register online, go to https://bit.ly/WSU-field-day-22. Pre-registration by June 7 costs $30 per person or $40 for a family of two or more. Registration on the day of the event costs $40 per person or $50 for a family.

Two western Washington field days have also been scheduled for later this summer:

Family Forest Field Day – Southwest Washington
August 13, 2022 – Winlock

Family Forest Field Day – Northwest Washington
August 27, 2022 – Vashon Island

More details will be released in the coming weeks on the August events. For more information, go to forestry.wsu.edu.
