DNR, Agency Partners To Conduct Wildland Fire Season Flying Rehearsal

The training exercise will take place some 15 miles north of Ellensburg

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the agency’s fire partners will conduct a Wildland Fire Season Flying Rehearsal near Naneum Ridge State Forest on May 17, 2023, between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. Naneum Ridge is about 15 miles north of Ellensburg.
Multiple aircraft will mobilize from several area airports simultaneously to practice maneuvering safely together in congested airspace. The exercise will include the use of smoke to replicate wildfire conditions.
DNR engines and multiple personnel will be assisting at the training site in Naneum and various locations throughout the region.
