Malaga Land Exchange

Proposed Malaga Land Exchange #86-099530

DNR desires to reposition certain parcels of State trust land east of Wenatchee in Chelan County to create a more efficient trust landscape. This exchange will consolidate State trust lands to improve management efficiency, enhance road access, and enhance marketing options for trust revenue. DNR will trade up to 2,198 acres of trust land and DNR will receive up to 2,639 acres of Ravenwing Ranch, LLC property.
The exchange will:
  • Consolidate State trust lands in Chelan County into a more manageable location to increase the operational efficiency of these lands.
  • Enhance the sustainability of working trust landscapes to provide for future generations.
  • Create enhance options for future public revenue through larger consolidated landscapes.
  • Reduce the number of isolated trust parcels that are less efficient for long-term State trust management.
  • Enhance biodiversity through DNR acquiring more habitat of a globally rare plant found only near Malaga with some of these plants present on the Ravenwing Ranch, LLC exchange properties.
This exchange involves one state trust, the Common School Trust, which is used to construct K-12 schools across Washington State. All exchange lands are located in Chelan County.

Public Hearing — November 19, 2019
DNR will hold a public hearing starting at 6 p.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at the Malaga Fire Station 17, which is part of Chelan County Fire District #1, Training Hall Room, 3760 West Malaga Road, Malaga, WA 98828. The purpose of the hearing is to provide information and receive public testimony on the proposed Malaga Land Exchange.
