Proposed Lost Mountain Land Exchange (#86-102692)
 
Objective
DNR desires to reposition a parcel of state trust land located southwest of Sequim in Clallam County to increase ease of access and make state lands more efficient to manage. This exchange will consolidate state trust lands to improve management efficiency, enhance road access, and enhance marketing options for trust revenue. DNR will trade up to approximately 7 acres of trust land and DNR will receive up to approximately 7 acres of Gates family property.   
 
Benefits
The exchange will:
  • Consolidate state trust lands in Clallam County to increase operational efficiency. 
  • Enhance the sustainability of working trust landscapes to provide for future generations.
This exchange involves one trust, the State Forest Land Trust, which supports local services within Clallam County. All exchange lands are located in Clallam County.

Public Hearing – September 21, 2022
DNR will hold a public hearing starting at 6 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Port Angeles Senior Center, Multi-Purpose Room, 328 E. 7th St. (southwest corner of Seventh  and Peabody), Port Angeles, WA 98362. The purpose of the hearing is to provide information and receive public testimony on the proposed Lost Mountain Land Exchange.
 
Written testimony must be received by October 6, 2022. Please mail written testimony to: DNR, Lost Mountain, Attn: Bob Winslow, P.O. Box 47014, Olympia, WA 98504-7014, or email to:  exchanges@dnr.wa.gov.
 
DNR encourages written testimony from interested parties. Attendance at this meeting is not required to testify regarding this exchange, and written testimony is equivalent to in-person verbal testimony.
 
All prospective attendees are asked to stay home if they have a fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, or exposure to someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
