DNR LAw Enforcement

Our Mission
Our purpose is to ensure your safety and to protect state assets and the environment. We want to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable experience when you are on state trust lands.

What We Do
DNR’s Law Enforcement Services’ commissioned officers protect the public, DNR employees and state lands. They are stationed in DNR's six regions to:

  • Monitor recreation to avoid injuries and property damage
  • Check and monitor permits
  • Investigate accidents
  • Control vehicle speeds
  • Prevent the theft of natural resources
  • Investigate and prevent wildfires
  • Enforce other state laws
  • Work closely with local law enforcement authorities to protect the public and public resources.

To report suspicious activity (if it’s not an emergency) on DNR-managed state lands, call the nearest DNR region office Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (see map):
