Join DNR staff and other volunteers to help work on trails, clean ditches, haul gravel, brush trails, paint, pick up garbage, and more! No need to call first.

Show up at 9 a.m. to get the day's assignment from a DNR staffer. Work as long as you want. Bring a hard hat, gloves, lunch, and water. Work parties take place  — rain or shine!

Anderson Mountain Pacific Northwest Trail Maintenance

Join DNR, the Skagit Whatcom Island Trail Maintenance Organization (SWITMO) and other volunteers to complete trail maintenance on the Anderson Mountain portion of the Pacific Northwest Trail.

 

What to bring

Bring lunch and water. Volunteers should wear appropriate footwear, long pants, and work gloves.

Meet at 9799 Old North Highway 99 in Burlington to carpool to the work site.

Directions

  • From Interstate 5, take the Cook Road Exit
  • Go east on Cook Road
  • Turn right at the first light onto Highway 99
  • Park on the east side of the road, across from Starbucks

Harry Osborne Forest Trail Work Party

Join DNR staff, the Skagit Chapter of Backcountry Horsemen of Washington, and other volunteers to help install new trail gravel in Harry Osborne State Forest.

 

What to bring

Lunch will be provided by BCHW. Volunteers should wear strong work shoes, long pants, and work gloves.

Join DNR staff and North Cascades Soaring Club at a work party to clean up Samish Overlook. Come help improve drainage on trails and around the day-use area.

Walker Valley ORV Work Party

Join DNR staff, members of the Northwest Motorcycle Association, and other volunteers to work on the Webfoot trail. Come do trail maintenance, use hand tools, put down gravel, and help repair this trail which has been closed due to logging activity and trail wear.

What to bring

Volunteers should bring good shoes and work gloves, clothes with long sleeves that are appropriate for the weather, plenty of water and a lunch.

Join DNR staff and members of Eastern Washington Adventures for a work party to clean up Beverly Sand Dunes. 

 

What to bring
Bring boots, gloves, water, and lunch. Volunteers are encouraged to bring ATVs but must meet necessary requirements: flag, current registration, spark arrester, and helmets are required.

  • Take Exit 137 for Highway 26 East toward Othello/Pullman

  • Continue 2 miles
  • Turn right onto the Beverly Dunes ORV Area

Walker Valley 4x4 Work Party

Join DNR staff and other volunteers to help work on the "skills area" section of the 4x4 trail system. Work will involve hauling large rocks with heavy equipment and placing rocks to restore and protect trails and prevent damage to trees and a nearby stream.
