State Trust Lands Habitat Conservation Plan

Location of Planning Units

The Habitat Conservation Plan is divided into nine planning units based primarily on large watersheds. These planning units allow us to better manage habitat in an efficient manner.

Westside Planning Units are

  • Columbia
  • South Coast
  • South Puget
  • North Puget
  • Straits
  • Olympic Experimental State Forest

Eastside Planning Units are

  • Chelan
  • Klickitat
  • Yakima

The Olympic Experimental State Forest is designed to be a research area. Our goal in this area is to learn how to integrate production and conservation on a landscape-level. Therefore, some of our conservation strategies are applied differently or have different goals in this planning unit than in the rest of the state.
