State Trust Lands Habitat Conservation Plan

Research and Adaptive Management

We developed a Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) for forested state trust lands to protect threatened and endangered species and their habitat on DNR-managed lands. The trust lands HCP research program supports the continued development and improved implementation of the habitat conservation strategies. Research also provides information necessary to develop future conservation strategies, as needed. Secondary priorities include assessing adaptive management and improving existing conservation strategies; increasing management options and commodity production opportunities; and improving general understanding of the animals, habitats, and ecosystems addressed by the Habitat Conservation Plan.
