Commissioner of Public Lands Peter Goldmark to designate Nisqually Aquatic Reserve
Management plan will add to Puget Sound protection

OLYMPIA – Members of the media and public are invited to join Commissioner of Public Lands Peter Goldmark and other officials on Friday, September 9, at the Nisqually Reach Nature Center, for the designation ceremony of the Nisqually Reach Aquatic Reserve. Goldmark will sign the official aquatic reserve management plan for Nisqually Reach that will serve as a guide to preserving the aquatic area.

From Interstate 5 North

  • Take Exit 114 over the freeway;
  • Continue straight on Martin Way E; (1.0 mile)
  • Right at traffic signal on top of hill (north) on Meridian Road NE; ( 0.5 mile)
  • Stay right through round-about on Meridian 
  • Right at 46th Avenue NE (2.5m)
  • Left onto D'Milluhr Drive and follow it to the parking lot for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife's Luhr Beach boat launch and fishing access.
  • Nature Center is in the building to the right of the boat launch.

From Interstate 5 South

  • Take Exit 114; at the foot of the off-ramp turn right, at the traffic signal turn right again;  onto Martin Way E; (1.0 mile)
  • Same directions as above
