Public invited to Workshops about Draft Environmental Impact Statement for OESF Forest Land Plan
Public comment welcome from June 1 to July 15

OLYMPIA — The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will hold a public workshop to provide an overview of the environmental analysis on the proposed forest land plan alternatives for state trust lands in the Olympic Experimental State Forest (OESF). The resulting plan will assist DNR in managing 250,000 acres of forested state trust lands on the west side of the Olympic Peninsula in Clallam and Jefferson counties. Through the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIS) DNR examines the potential significant impacts to the environment from the management alternatives being considered for the trust lands.

At the workshops DNR staff will provide an overview of the Olympic Experimental State Forest, forest land planning, and Draft EIS to help the public and stakeholders as they review the document. The document will be available on June 1, on-line at DNR’s SEPA Center webpage.

SEPA Comment Period is June 1, 2010 – July 15, 2010
and Two Public Hearings Scheduled

The Draft EIS will be available June 1, 2010 on the SEPA webpage at www.dnr.wa.gov/ResearchScience/sepa/Pages/Home.aspx, under Current DNR ‘non-project’ actions.

Environmental review is carried out under the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA). Comments must be received by DNR by 5:00 PM on July 15, 2010. More information is on the factsheet located in first section of the Draft EIS.
