Geology & Earth Sciences -- Landscape.

If you are interested in what lies beneath the earth’s surface in Washington, you will find a vast information source here. We are committed to making geologic information more accessible and useful to a wide array of users including scientists, teachers and students, policy makers, local government planners, and the general public.

We monitor, assess, and research causes of earthquakes, landslides, and volcanoes, and publish information on geologic hazards – information that is critical to decision makers in government and the private sector, and key to reducing the human and financial effects of natural disasters.

Our information services range from our award-winning maps to our extensive library and online publications.
