Public Comments on Recreation Planning
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) wants to know what Washingtonians are thinking about recreation on state lands managed by DNR. From now through late 2009, we will be asking you for your ideas, suggestions and best thinking about the future of recreation for the state. We also want to know what kinds of recreation you enjoy, where you like to play outside, and what DNR can do to make your recreation experience more enjoyable.
In September 2008, we held 9 workshops across the state to gather comments from citizens. We also posted a survey online to learn more from those who couldn't attend our public workshops. In the future, we will provide you with other opportunities to comment.
What will DNR do with the comments?
The comments will be presented to members of the Sustainable Recreation Work Group who will be making recommendations to the legislature on a long-term vision for the future of recreation on DNR-managed lands.
What have people been saying?
The following are the comments we collected from the public workshops and from an online survey conducted in September.
