Campfires prohibited in DNR campgroundS at Rock Lake and Rock Creek
OLYMPIA – The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced today additional campfire restrictions in Okanogan County.
Effective 12:01 a.m. on July 18, 2014:
- All campfires in Rock Creek Campground and Rock Creek Shelter in Okanogan County are prohibited.
- All campfires in Rock Lake Campground in Okanogan County are prohibited.
- All campfires in Leader Lake Campground in Okanogan County are prohibited, which was put into place July 15.

The public also is reminded that individual campgrounds may ban campfires. Check with the campground host before lighting a campfire.
In an effort to reduce human-caused wildfires, DNR issued a statewide burn ban on all DNR-protected lands, effective through September 30, 2014. The ban includes all forestlands in Washington except for federal lands.
