Walker Valley recreation trails reopen in time for weekend
Off road vehicle trails reopen early after successful fire suppression efforts
OLYMPIA – The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will reopen the Walker Valley off-road vehicle (ORV) recreation area on October 13 at 6:00 a.m. The 36 miles of trails were closed on October 8, 2012 due to the 24-acre Roaming Roe wildfire on DNR-managed land east of Mt. Vernon in Skagit County. The fire is now contained, allowing DNR to reopen this popular recreation site ahead of schedule.
