Ahtanum State Forest campgrounds to reopen after wildfire
All facilities will open for limited durations

OLYMPIA – The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will open Ahtanum Meadows and Ahtanum Campground at 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 30. They will be accessible by the North Fork Ahtanum Road. These sites were temporarily closed August 22 to assist with fire suppression efforts at the Diamond Butte fire.

The Middle Fork Road, which accesses Tree Phones Campground and Whites Ridge Trailhead, will continue to be closed during the week, but will reopen from 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday at 8 p.m. (closed on Labor Day, Monday, September 3). Please see May 22 media advisory for more information.

Snow Cabin Campground will open at 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, for the duration of the weekend.

 What: Many recreation sites in Ahtanum State Forest will be open for Labor Day weekend.
 When: Most sites will open August 30 at 5 p.m. (Details here)
 Where:   Ahtanum State Forest, west of Yakima
 Why: The recreation facilities will be reopened in time for Labor Day weekend.
