Free Firewise workshops offered in Colville and Spokane
Learn to prepare for wildfire
SPOKANE – The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Washington State University Extension Offices are offering free workshops for anyone who lives in or near the forest.
Firewise workshop is a great opportunity to learn how to prepare for the next wildfire. It is an introductory, interactive educational event for homeowners, forest landowners, and anyone interested in how to reduce the risks of wildfire to life and property if they live close to the forests.

Colville Workshop
| When / Where: | August 2, 2011; 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; WSU Stevens County Extension Office, 986 South Main, Ste. D, Colville |
| Directions: | From US-395 north out of Spokane, turn left onto Main Street; go about a block. The WSU Extension Office is on the left. |
Spokane Workshop
| When / Where: | August 9, 2011; 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; WSU Spokane County Extension Office, 222 N. Havana, Spokane |
Directions: | From eastbound I-90, take Exit 283B. Go east on 3rd Street to Havana; go north on Havana. The WSU Extension Office is on the right. From westbound on I-90, take Exit 285. Go west on Sprague to Havana; go north on Havana. The WSU Extension Office is on the right. |
Participants will learn how to meet their individual wildfire protection and prevention goals. This includes a wildfire hazard assessment of each participant’s home.
