The expansive Southeast Region covers central and southeastern Washington and includes one of Washington’s newest recreation areas, Naneum Ridge State Forest. This vast region’s landscapes range from mixed pine and conifer forests in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Range to arid shrub-steppe and agricultural lands in eastern part of the state. The region offers14 recreation sites, 50 miles of maintained trails, 5 designated campgrounds, and one Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) park at Beverly Sand Dunes Recreation Area. Popular recreation activities in this region include hunting, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, bike riding, ORV driving, camping, snowmobiling, boating, hang gliding, and wildlife viewing.

Pets are allowed on department-managed lands, except in areas that are closed to pets or animals for the protection of wildlife, sensitive natural systems, special cultural areas, or for other purposes.
