The state Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has designed a Query tool to assist prospective purchasers in identifying state timber sales that meet their needs.

This book is designed to help forest owners, loggers, and others better understand the Forest Practices Rules and how they protect public resources, such as fish, water, wildlife, and state and municipal capital improvements.

DNR Forest Practice Rules and Information
The Forest Practices Rules establish standards for forest practices such as timber harvest, pre-commercial thinning, road construction, fertilization, and forest chemical application (Title 222 WAC). They give direction on how to implement the Forest Practices Act (chapter 76.09 RCW) and Stewardship of Non-industrial Forests and Woodlands (chapter 76.13 RCW). 
 
DNR Forest Health, Bugs and Crud
Each year, an amount of wood fiber equivalent to more than 13% of annual forest growth is lost to diseases.  Destructive forest insects can take out substantial portions of standing volumes when at epidemic levels in local areas.
