Newberry Hill Reconveyance

proposed newberry hill reconveyance

Kitsap County filed a request to reconvey approximately 304 acres of State Forest Trust land bordering Newberry Hill Park from the State of Washington to the County. The Board of Natural Resources reviewed the proposal and approved the Reconveyance on December 6, 2011. The transaction is in the process of closing.

The Reconveyance Process
A county with State Forest Transfer trust lands managed by DNR may ask for the land to be returned ('reconveyed') to it for use as a public park. (RCW 79.22.300).

A public meeting about the reconveyance was held on October 19, 2010, in Silverdale.

After reviewing the proposal and the information presented about the project, DNR determined that the reconveyance request was consistent with the State's Outdoor Recreation Plan.
