SPECIALIZED FOREST PRODUCT SALE
FROM STATE TRUST LANDS
About 2.1 million acres of forested state trust lands throughout the state are managed by Washington’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Management of activities on these lands earns revenue to build the state’s public schools and universities, and much more.
Periodically, areas of trust forests are selected for specialized forest products harvesting. In the floral industry, salal and ferns are especially popular for seasonal greens. We hold a public auction for parties to bid on the right to harvest an unlimited amount of these specialized products in a specific area, under contract for a specific period of time.
Information is available here on the specific sales with maps, the brush lease auction, bidding procedures,
and the guidelines and regulations for harvest.
