Evergreen Bough Sales
from forested State Trust Lands
About 2.1 million acres of forested state trust lands are managed by Washington’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR) throughout the state. Management of activities on these lands earns revenue to build the state’s public schools and universities, and much more.
Periodically, areas of trust forests are selected for evergreen bough harvests. Noble fir and pine are especially popular in the floral industry for seasonal greens. We hold a public auction for parties to bid on the right to harvest a quantity of evergreen boughs from trees in a specific area, under contract for a specific period of time.
Information is available here on the specific sales with maps and photos, the bough sales auction, bidding procedures, and the guidelines and regulations for harvest.
