Butler Hill Exchange

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is exchanging 144.20 acres of State Forest Transfer Trust land for 239.33 acres of property owned by Cougar Peak, LLC., in Skagit County.

Purpose
The exchange consolidates state trust lands under DNR’s management in Skagit County. Consolidating state trust lands can help enhance public access and improve natural resource management options and trust income.

Outreach
DNR held a public hearing to obtain public comments about this exchange on July 11, 2012 at 6 p.m. in the DNR Northwest Region Office located at 919 N. Township St., Sedro Woolley, WA 98284. No testimony or written comments were received.

Project Status
A summary of the hearing and a proposal to complete the exchange was presented to the Board of Natural Resources for consideration on November 6, 2012. The exchange was approved unanimously.
