DNR schedules public hearing about exchange of trust designations for state trust land near Glenwood
Transaction would set stage for 819-acre addition to Klickitat Canyon natural area

OLYMPIA – The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will conduct a public hearing on August 6 to provide information and receive comments on the proposed Klickitat Canyon Inter-Trust Exchange. This exchange of trust designations between parcels of DNR-managed land would make possible a future transfer of about 819 acres into the DNR-managed Klickitat Canyon Natural Resources Conservation Area (NRCA). The acreage added to Klickitat Canyon NRCA would be used for recreation, open space, or wildlife habitat purposes.

To obtain public comments relating to this land exchange between DNR trust beneficiaries and this proposed Trust Land Transfer. A summary of hearing comments will be presented to the Board of Natural Resources prior to their decision on this exchange and transfer.  
Written comments accepted
DNR will also accept written comments about this exchange, which must be received no later than 5:00 p.m., August 22, 2014. Exchange property descriptions
Scientific Trust property – The following parcels would change from Scientific Trust to Common School Trust as part of the exchange between trusts: portion of Section 1, T6N, R12EW, W.M. and a portion of Section 6, T6N, R13E, W.M., Klickitat County, Washington.

Common School Trust property – The following parcel would change from Common School Trust to Scientific Trust as part of the exchange between trusts: portion of Section 27, T7N, R12E, W.M., Yakima County, Washington. 

Klickitat Canyon Trust Land Transfer property – Portions of the following parcels would transfer into the DNR-managed Klickitat Canyon Natural Resources Conservation Area through a Trust Land Transfer funded by the 2013 Legislature: portion of S.1, T6N, R12E; portion of Section 6, T6N, R13E; Klickitat County, Washington, and a portion of Section 36, T7N, R12E, Yakima County, Washington.
