DNR schedules March 18 hearing in Centralia on proposed exchange of state trust lands
DNR and private company would trade parcels in Lewis and Thurston counties

OLYMPIA – The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will conduct a public hearing March 18 on the proposed Harmony Land Exchange, a potential exchange of up to 750 acres of state trust land for up to 817 acres of property owned by Jorgensen Timber, LLC. The properties are located in Lewis and Thurston counties.

 Where:  Centralia College, 600 Centralia College Blvd, Washington Hall (WAH) – Room 103, Centralia, WA 98531
 Why:

To provide information and receive public testimony regarding the proposed Harmony Exchange. A summary of hearing comments will be presented to the Board of Natural Resource prior to its decision on this exchange.

DNR’s objectives for the proposed Harmony Land Exchange are to consolidate State trust lands to create sustainable forest landscapes, enhance trust road access, improve natural resource land management efficiencies, enhance the marketing of forest products from trust lands, and provide for wildlife habitat consistent with DNR’s trust land Habitat Conservation Plan.

Written comments accepted
Written testimony about this proposed exchange will be accepted until 4:30 p.m., April 2, 2014.  Email comments to: Exchanges@dnr.wa.gov or send by mail to: DNR, Harmony Land Exchange, Attn: Bob Winslow, PO Box 47014, Olympia, WA 98504-7014.

The Board of Natural Resources will receive a summary of public testimony concerning this exchange before making its decision.
