Washington State Department of Natural Resources hires Mary Verner
Verner to Join DNR Executive Management Team
OLYMPIA – The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has announced that it has hired former Spokane Mayor Mary Verner as its new Deputy Supervisor for Resource Protection & Administration. Prior to her term as mayor, Verner held positions as the Executive Director of the Upper Columbia United Tribes and Director of Natural Resources for the Spokane Tribe.
“We are proud to announce the addition of Mary Verner to DNR’s Executive Management Team,” said Commissioner of Public Lands Peter Goldmark. “I am excited by the opportunity to work with Mary and look forward to her joining our team in June.”
Verner served as the Mayor of Spokane from late 2007 to late 2011. Subsequent to her term as mayor, she worked as the Chief Executive Officer of Spokane Tribal Enterprises, the business arm of the Spokane Tribe of Indians. She received a master’s degree from Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental Studies in 1992.
