SoundCorps to help recover Puget Sound
Veterans hired to clean up the Sound
OLYMPIA— Media and members of the public are invited to join Commissioner of Public Lands Peter Goldmark and other officials on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at the Port of Tacoma’s Gog-le-hi-te wetland mitigation site to celebrate the launch of the new Puget SoundCorps.

Who we are
The 2011 Washington Legislature passed a measure that folded all existing Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) activities into the state Department of Ecology. This new consolidated program serves the following state agencies:
This multi-agency effort has created the new Puget SoundCorps within WCC. SoundCorps crews work on projects on state lands that help restore and protect Puget Sound. The SoundCorps creates jobs while effectively and efficiently helping carry out the Puget Sound Partnership’s Action Agenda—the single playbook for prioritizing and focusing Puget Sound recovery and protection efforts.
