Purpose of exchanging trust designations
In this proposed inter-trust exchange, several properties currently designated as State Forest Transfer and State Forest Purchase Trust lands in Jefferson County would be re-designated as Common School Trust properties. In exchange, equal-valued parcels of Common School Trust lands in Jefferson County would be designated as State Forest Transfer Trust and State Forest Purchase Trust lands. DNR manages State Forest Trust lands to support county services, including schools and fire protection and manages Common School Trust lands to support school construction.
If approved by the Department of Natural Resources’ Board of Natural Resources, the inter-trust exchange would make possible a future transfer of additional state trust land into the Dabob Bay Natural Resources Conservation Area (NRCA) as authorized by the state legislature.
A factsheet with maps showing the affected parcels in the Dabob Bay Phase 2 Inter-trust Exchange is online at www.dnr.wa.gov under “Leasing and Land Transactions.” The direct link to the factsheet is: www.dnr.wa.gov/Publications/em_fs11_008.pdf
