How do I participate in upcoming timber sales bidding?
The Department's timber sales program involves 2.1 million acres of trust land. Here you will find information on how to be an eligible bidder for a timber sale, along with information about the timber sale process and links to upcoming sales. Timber sale auctions are held every month in each of our six region offices across the state. Information on upcoming sales can be found by following the appraisal packet link below.
Currently all trust timber sales are certified under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) Standard.
All sales sold after May 15, 2008, within the South Puget HCP Planning Unit, are certified under both the SFI® and Forest Stewardship Council Standards. A list of available timber sales can be found in the appraisal packet. A list of sales sold prior to May 15, 2008 in the South Puget HCP Planning Unit but which are certified to follow the chain-of-custody trail as produced from an FSC certified forest manager is also available.

Forest Improvement Program
DNR's Forest Improvement Program focuses on eastern Washington forests that are heavily at risk of disease and wildfire. Our intent is to implement forest stand-level activities to restore forest lands and promote a healthy and vigorous forest. Contracts are let for activities, such as thinning stands, that help improve the health and fire resistance of the forest.
