Under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification program, Washington's Department of Natural Resources is certified for management of all the 2.1 million acres of forested state trust land statewide. In addition, we are certified under the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards for management of approximately 166,000 acres of forested trust lands located in the South Puget HCP Planning Unit. Forestry Services Contract Opportunities, Including Silviculture
The Department uses forestry and silviculture contracts to complete a range of on-the-ground work. The forestry contracts are less frequent and are general focused to complete a specific project in a short time frame. In addition to the Departments camps program, silvilculture contracts are typically let on annual basis to cover hand planting, slashing, herbicide applications and other activities specific to reforestation efforts.
