| This board guides the management of state trust lands and resources. It oversees sales and exchanges of trust lands as well as timber and mineral sales from trust lands. It sets sustainable harvest levels for forested trust lands and guides DNR’s stewardship of state Natural Area Preserves, Natural Resources Conservation Areas and aquatic lands.
The Board also is the state’s Harbor Line Commission, which defines harbor boundaries, and acts as the state Board of Appraisers to confirm valuations of trust lands that the state sells, transfers or exchanges.
Board members represent the institutions that benefit from the states trusts and serve open-ended terms. |

| This board sets rules that determine the standards for forest practices such as timber harvests, pre-commercial thinning, road construction, fertilization, and forest chemical application. DNR implements and enforces the forest practices rules that this Board adopts. The rules protect public resources such as water quality and fish habitat while maintaining a viable timber industry.
Board members are appointed to represent state agencies concerned with forest resources and commerce, counties, and the general public, including owners of small forestlands and independent logging contractors. |

| This board oversees and recommends changes to DNR’s forest fire prevention and suppression policies. It also is in charge of the Landowner Contingency Forest Fire Suppression Account.

| The Natural Heritage Advisory Council recommends policy for the Natural Heritage Program. It also advises state agencies that manage state-owned land or natural resources about which lands are most appropriate to register as natural areas.
Council members represent the public, academic, and private sectors. Members are recognized experts in the ecology of natural areas with expertise in biological and geological sciences. |

| The Small Forest Landowner Advisory Committee advises the Small Forest Landowner Office and makes policy recommendations to the Forest Practices Board about issues of concern to small forest landowners.
Committee members represent state agencies and the Tribes. Other members are small forest landowners selected by the Commissioner of Public Lands from candidates submitted by the Washington Farm Forestry Association. |

| This Board identifies and preserves survey points that describe common land boundaries. It works with government agencies, land surveyors, registered engineers, and the public to maintain indexes of survey records, establish industry standards for accuracy and procedures, and issues permits for removing survey monuments.
Board members are professional land surveyors appointed to represent diverse sectors of the land surveying profession, and a geographic representation of the state. |

| This seven-member board is authorized by state law to establish the official names for the lakes, mountains, streams, places, towns and other geographic features in Washington State. The Board works in cooperation with the United States Board on Geographic Names.

| The committee recommends forest lands to be included in the Forest Legacy Program. The Program is a voluntary federal-state partnership that helps protect privately owned forest lands by providing technical assistance, conservation easements, and other resources. The committee consults with the United States Department of Agriculture and state organizations concerned with forestry issues. It makes recommendations to the Washington state forester or state officials about developing a Forest Stewardship Plan. |
